Hebrew School/Cheder
The ACT Jewish Community Cheder is
Canberra’s only formal Jewish education program for children.  It welcomes and caters to Jewish children from all streams of Judaism, from kindergarten age to Bar / Bat Mitzvah.  The students are split into age groups to learn Hebrew and Jewish studies. The program focuses on instilling Torah values and a love for Judaism while giving children the opportunity to form friendships with other Jewish children.  Cheder classes run from 9:45-12:15 on Sunday mornings during school terms, at the ACT Jewish Community Centre in Forrest.  Fees in 2010 are $50 per term for ACT Jewish Community members or $75 per term for non-members.  For further information please contact the ACT Jewish Community during office hours.
The ACT Jewish Community Cheder has been running continuously since the 1950s.  The school is a member of the ACT Ethnic Schools Association. We are grateful for financial support from the NSW Board of Progressive Jewish Education and the ACT Government.

Holiday Program
The Community offers holiday programs for school aged children run by experienced madrichot.
